Calling all girls ages 15-18 in grades 10th-12th! I'm excited to share all about the Thor Ragnarok Superpower of STEM Challenge! Marvel Studios is, once again, encouraging young girls to explore the power of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Channel your inner superpowers of STEM for good and you could win a trip to the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok and a mentorship with Disney Imagineering!
This program, supported by American Association for the Advancement of Science, Broadcom MASTERS, and Society for Science & the Public is looking for you girls to use your superpower of STEM to create an original Do-It-Yourself project that can be replicated by others.
Five finalists will be selected to come to Los Angeles and present their projects to a panel of experts. They will also get the chance to attend the Red Carpet Premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, get $500 deposited into a high-yield savings account from Synchrony Bank, a tour of the Walt Disney Studios, and more!
One grand-prize winner (selected from the five finalists) will get the chance to be mentored by Disney Imagineering. There she will build her STEM story, creating a video that will be available to students, teachers and families worldwide on the American Association for the Advancement of Science education resource website ScienceNetLinks.com. Plus she will have the opportunity to demonstrate her project live on Good Morning America!
Could someone get me an ID that says I'm 18 again? This sounds like an amazing opportunity!
The contest runs August 23, 2017, through September 23, 2017. For the official rules, application, and more information visit Marvel Studios STEM Challenge.
Thor finds himself without his hammer and imprisoned far from Asgard. He needs to join forces with the Incredible Hulk, Valkyrie, and Loki to try to save Asgard from Hela. And also prevent her from unleashing Ragnarok, the end of Asgardian civilization. Along the way he has to fight the Hulk in a gladiators' ring, probably have a sibling heart-to-heart with Loki, and take on some big, ferocious mythological baddies. I have chills. Is it November yet?
I've been geeking out over the new Thor movie ever since I first saw the teaser trailer. Want to know what has me so excited for the latest Thor? Just check out my 10 Reason To Geek Our Over Thor Ragnarok!

Being mentored by Disney Imagineering sounds like an incredible experience and a prize that will continue throughout life! Best of luck to all participants!

I love seeing opportunities like this. I believe in learning and experiences like this encourage knowledge and creativity while providing a one of a kind reward.
I love this so much!
I love hearing about challenges like this – that support young women entering the sciences and engineering. My own daughter is an engineer like her father and grandfather. But it’s sad to say that there are so few women in her field. In the Bay Area she was the only female engineer in a company of full of men. We need more girls to explore their talents and truly believe in themselves – that they are just as good or better than their male counterparts!
Wow! What an awesome experience this is going to be for young girls! It is great to see encouragement for women to get into engineering!
What a neat experience! This is something that my son would have enjoyed when he was that age.
I’m so excited for these girls. I hope a lot of the girls take advantage of this opportunity to keep it going. I love when we encourage the youth.
This is such a great experience. My daughter would love to do something like this.
I am super excited about this movie! And this challenge sounds amazing!
You’re SO right! This really does sound like an amazing experience. I would have loved the chance to have participated in a contest like this when I was younger. (OK, and now. I just don’t think I could get away with pretending to be that young lol)
I love this challenge. As a mom to three girls, I am so glad to see that they are offering this wonderful STEM opportunity. On a separate note, I totally cannot wait to see this movie!

My daughter and I are definitely looking forward to getting to watching Thor Ragnarok. The Stem Challenge does sound like such a great challenge for girls to develop their STEM skills and such a cool prize to work with Disney Imagineers.
What a fantastic opportunity. I am going to watch the new Thor film as soon as it hits the cinemas, can’t wait for it!
This sounds like an amazing challenge. We are so excited to go see Thor Ragnarok when it comes out.
This challenge sounds awesome. I love all the Marvel films and this sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
I love the challenge like this
I love this because I love anything that empowers women. These fields have so often been thought of as fields for me. It simply is not true. So I love that this is encouraging more girls to explore STEM.
I have never seen any of these movies, but I know a lot of people love them and they are really popular! I’m sure one of these days I’ll cave and watch one! Thanks for sharing!
Thor Ragnarok Superpower Stem challenge is amazing! I am pretty excited for this movie to come out. It’s pretty awesome.
What an amazing challenge, I wish I could enter but I’m looking forward who wins it and shows their amazing talent. I’m really excited for this movie haha I love a good Hulk and Thor partnering.
In our house of boys, we love super hero movies. Not too mention that stem challenge is exciting!
Its great to see Disney promoting STEM for girls.
It is really important that we encourage STEM learning, especially for our girls. Women only earn about one third of STEM undergrad degrees, even though they account for 60% of college graduates. There are also far fewer girls in computer sciences and engineering.
The solution to this is to encourage girls at a young age to be interested in STEM topics.
