Aleks Le Interview: Solo Leveling ReAwakening & Season 2

December 4, 2024 By Ashley Leave a Comment

Solo Leveling: ReAwakening is coming to theaters December 6 with an exclusive sneak peek at season 2 which will debut on Crunchyroll in 2025. I had the chance to sit down with Aleks Le, the English voice of Solo Leveling's Sung Jinwoo, to hear more about what fans can expect from the show.

Aleks Le Interview: Solo Leveling ReAwakening & Season 2

As a fan of the manhwa, I was stoked that it was finally getting adapted. And it did not disappoint. From the Igris fight to the iconic “Arise,” the entire team from the animators to the voice talent brought their A game. After such a great start to the story, it was a relief to hear Season 2 would be coming in 2025 (anime friends, we know sometimes those waits between seasons can be years). Then Crunchyroll announced Solo Leveling: ReAwakening, a recap film that would also include an exclusive look at Season 2. Sung Jinwoo on the big screen? In IMAX? Sign me up.

Aleks Le is everywhere. From Demon Slayer to Mashle to Bleach Thousand Year Blood War, if you're watching a dubbed anime Aleks is probably in it (and killing it). I was excited to be able to talk to him about Solo Leveling, Wakey Wakey, and Sung Drip Woo.

Wakey Wakey…did you have them sneak that in?

That was me, yeah. I promised fans we would sneak it in there somehow. We might try to do it again in the future, but for now, it felt a little bit too on the nose to have him say it. So it was like, this is the perfect moment to have somebody else say it.

You wrote a lot of Jinwoo's dialogue for season 1. Did you get a chance to do that again?

Caitlin was very open to the idea of me adding a lot of myself into this role because it's such a personal adventure. It's basically the Jinwoo show. We had to find a voice for him and the best way for us to do that was to kind of just decide how he should be early on. That's why I was really involved with the writing process and I'm glad that we got to do it for season two.

He has a lot of super difficult monologues and big speeches and stuff like that and we wanted to make sure those moments are as memorable as possible. So we kind of worked overtime to tweak it as much as we could so that it would stand out to us as something more than just dialogue in a scene.

If you could sum up what you've done so far this season with a word or a phrase for fans, what would it be?

Sung Drip Woo is coming as the kids on Tik TOK are saying! [Laughs] That's what they call him. He's coming.

About Solo Leveling: ReAwakening

A catch-up recap of the first season coupled with an exclusive sneak peek of the first two episodes of the highly anticipated second season in one momentous theatrical fan experience.

About Solo Leveling:

Over a decade has passed since a pathway called a “gate” which connects this world and another dimension suddenly appeared, and people with superhuman powers called “hunters” have been awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates to make a living, and Sung Jinwoo, a hunter of the lowest rank, is considered the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind. One day, he encounters a double dungeon, a high-level dungeon hidden inside a low-level one. In front of a severely wounded Jinwoo, a mysterious quest window pops up. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to take on the quest, which makes him the only person who can level up.

Solo Leveling: ReAwakening is in theaters December 6. Tickets are on sale now.
