All the Elio Easter Eggs You May Have Missed
In the air and space museum there is a Star Trek easter egg. When Elio runs into the unopened exhibit there is a voice recording about “distant worlds.” The voice on that recording is the captain of USS Voyager herself: Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew).
The hidden A113 Easter Egg is located on Elio’s backpack. It is patch that reads Area 113 which is the nod to Area 51 and the base where aliens are supposedly housed.
There is an ofrenda in their home. You can spot the Papel picado like in Coco. Co-director Adrian Molina directed Coco.
Look at the posters, those are ones Frida Kahlo painted in Coco.
One of the items on Elio's homemade cape is a Spork like Forky.
Pixar Animation Studio even gets an Easter Egg this time. Elio's sand drawing that says “Aliens! Abduct Me!!” is a rough sketch of the Pixar campus including the amphitheater.
Luxo lamp outline can be found in the stars.
The Pixar Ball can be seen on Elio's boxers when he is being scanned.
The Communiverse assembly room resembles that of the Senate in Star Wars.
Elio when talking about the cloning, calls it a win-win-win. This is a quote from The Office by Michael Scott.
When the clone melts away it looks similar to that scene in The Thing.
During the debris field scene with the HAM radio folks, one of the people helping Olga and Elio is “Giulia from Italia,” the character from Luca.
Elio Post Credit Scene Featuring Hoppers
The next Pixar film is titled Hoppers. The lizard from the film is playing with a tablet after the credits end.
