What kind of activities have you done with a pedometer on?
That was the question posed this week by Mamavation. Well, the truth is I don't own a pedometer. I want one, I think they are pretty awesome. I'm also curious, how many steps I take as a mom, because it feels like a million!
I have borrowed a friends when I went to the gym. It was pretty wild looking down at the number of steps I took from the door of the gym, through my dance class, and then weight session. It was in the 1,000s if I remember correctly. She wears hers when she hikes, bikes, works and always shows me the number. Like I said, I think as a mom I probably have her beat! If I were to own one I would wear it everywhere at first because I'm just curious. How many steps you take in a day is not something you think about. I really like that Omron also makes some that calculate calories burned. My friend's doesn't do that. I would love to know the amount of calories burned at the gym, the machines are usually inaccurate. I could also then report on the amount of steps and calories burned during my dance parties with my kids. In case you don't know the fun you're missing out on see my post about that here. I think its a necessary tool in a weight loss/weight management arsenal, and I can't wait to get one!

Good luck ๐ If I wear my pedometer around while i’m just doing “mom things” it’s usually about 3000-4000 a day! I love that you have dance parties with your kids! How fun!

Wow that’s a lot! Dance parties are the way to go, exercise for the whole family and it’s a great way to tire them out for nap ๐

I love love love that you referred to a pedometer as a tool to have in your arsenal- that’s exactly what I believe in, having lots and lots of tools – I think the more tools you have, the less excuses you’ll have. Great wok and I hope you win one!
Ashley
Thank you! And I totally agree, the more tools the less excuses and the more success in weight loss ๐

I LOVE dance parties with my kids. I should wear my pedometer during one of those sessions. I bet I get in thousands of steps.
Ashley
You should and let me know! ๐

A pedometer is a great tool to have. I aim for 10,000-15,000 steps a day. It is great to have a way to measure movements.

Reading these responses makes me realize my guess of 1,000 steps for the gym that night was waaay off! I bet it is, I want to get one ๐
