Planning the Perfect Family Movie Night

December 19, 2017 By Ashley 17 Comments

The holidays are here! No alarms, no homework, just hanging out as a family, and having fun. It is the time of year for traditions. We have a lot, from baking cookies to picking out the best Christmas tree ever. One of my favorite traditions though, are our movie nights. Once a week, we all get on our pajamas, grab a blanket, and snuggle up in the living room to watch a classic holiday movie.

I love these moments as a family. They are a reminder to my husband and I to slow down. To be in the moment with our children and each other. The kids really look forward to it each week, helping me plan out our snacks and what movie we should watch. My hope is that it will be something they remember when they get older.

Planning the Perfect Family Movie Night

I wonder if they will let me use my pillow this time or hog it all like usual?

Planning the perfect family movie night is easy. All you need are PJs, blankets, pillows, snacks, and movies.

Movies Anywhere

I've partnered with Movies Anywhere for this post. All opinions are my own.

Now I know you might be thinking: Here is the part where she adds a recipe on how to make those tasty looking chocolate pretzel things. Real talk: I bought those. You could make them, or you can do yourself a favor, and just buy some snacks at Target. The kids won't care, trust me.

Movies Anywhere

Cute sleeping animals are optional.

PJs, blankets, pillows, and snacks. Check. Now for the movies. Let me introduce you to Movies Anywhere.

Movies Anywhere

All your movies, together, in one app. That's right, if you haven't heard, Movies Anywhere lets you store your favorite movies in one place so you can watch them when and where you want. No service? No problem. Save your movies to your device to watch offline later.

It is easy to use and your movies are available instantly! When you register with Movies Anywhere, you can connect your iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon accounts to have all your movies in one place. New movie? Just enter your code and click redeem. Click on Explore, to see what is available and to purchase movies right through the website/or app.

Movies Anywhere goes wherever we do. On road trips to the grandparents' house, or to visit friends far away, the kids can each watch a movie on their iPads without any arguing! It is like Christmas magic!

I never travel anywhere without Movies Anywhere. This guy likes knowing when Baymax is over, we will have landed in the house of Mouse. Cookies not included, but bring some snacks too!

Movies Anywhere isn't just a lifesaver when you travel. What's that line in the song? “Mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again.” I wonder if that was written after having to hear your child sing the same song over and over and over again? I'm thinking yes. What can you do if your child is obsessed with Frozen? Send them into the other room with Movies Anywhere to watch it as much as he or she desires. Your kid will be excited to watch Olaf and you won't have hear Let It Go. Win-win!

Let's say you are busy whipping up something delicious in the kitchen and your kids are happily watching a movie in the other room. Then you realize you don't have enough flour?! Argh! Now you have to go to the store and they aren't loving that you're interrupting Maui's “You're Welcome.” Mutiny can be averted. Any movie started on one device, can be picked up right where you left off on another. You're welcome.

Wherever the holidays take you, Movies Anywhere is there to be your new best friend. Take it from me, Movies Anywhere is my traveling lifesaver, movie night must, and long car ride bestie. Where will you take your movies?

I have never heard of this app but I’m definitely going to try it. We travel a lot and it would be nice to have a way to get to our movies at all times.

We love having movie nights, and no movie night is complete without tons of tasty snacks. Cuddly pets are NOT optional in our house. LOL

Blankets, pillows, cuddly animals and a few good movies sound like the perfect movie night! I am planning on having a few nights like that during the holidays.

We are planning on watching a lot of movies together this holiday season. I will have to check out Movies Anywhere. One of our favorite things to do is to get a bunch of snacks and watch some good movies as a family.

I’m laughing so hard about the fact that you bought the pretzels. No reason to go all Pinterest for just a movie night. I love it AND the dog. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve never heard of movies Anywhere – I used to use PopcornTime but it’s not working for us lately, so I may look into this one! I LOVE your movie night setups – looks so cozy and fun. Also, I totally agree with the “you can just buy the snacks at Target” line – definitely true, they really don’t care. It’s all about making some memories and spending quality time together!

Thanks for the suggestion with this app – I will give it a try…can’t wait for our next movie night; my husband, me, our son and our 2 cats all snuggled up on our small couch! ๐Ÿ˜‰
