This weeks Mamavation Question is: What is your plan to avoid overindulging during holiday feasts?
Great question! I've already been thinking about how much food is coming my way Thursday. First, I have to cook for my side of the family and have it ready by the time Santa hits Macy's Herald Square. Then, for dinner we have to go sit through another feast with my husband's family. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. And no, I'm not totally crazy for cooking, it's the only way to insure that at least one meal I'm at Thanksgiving is a healthy one!
So how to avoid over indulging during holiday feasts? Well, luckily I can only really eat one large meal a day. And since I know that my turkey meal will be healthier then my in-laws I plan on eating my big meal at home. I've also decided ahead of time not to have desserts. There will be enough eating of everything else that it really will be unnecessary to pig out further. But if you really want desserts then be carb conscious. Have less stuffing and rolls, eat more veggies then have a small piece of dessert. It's all about balance!
Most importantly, instead of going into a food coma get up and get active! My gym is open Thursday until 2pm and I plan on going there right after the kids go down for a nap. If somehow that doesn't happen, my Wii fit is always ready. The point is do something! Besides if you are hitting all the stores for black friday you might want to get in some running, pilates, or yoga to prepare yourself (like the Target Christmas lady).
So who's with me? Let's commit to be active and not gain holiday weight!!!

I’m totally doing a Jackie Warner DVD on Thanksgiving. Lucky for me they all go home by 4pm and then I have the rest of the day to walk around, etc. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving dear! XXOO

I LOVE the target lady, and wish I had her energy!!! I too like cooking so that I know what is good for me and what I should avoid. Good Luck, and most importantly, ENJOY!!!

I’m all for working out on the holiday too! You are right – it’s all about balance. It sounds like you have a totally solid plan. I hope you have an awesome holiday!
Ashley
Thanks have a good thanksgiving!

The target lady, lol
Sounds like you have a solid game plan going on. When we do both family dinners we eat at my parents & have salad & a small desert at my in-laws. So glad we moved away and don’t ever plan on going home during these holidays again.
Ashley
Lol I wish I could run away to NY, watch the parade, and have someone else cook! I love the target lady, those commercials crack me up

I wish my gym was open, but I’m hoping to inspire the entire family to get out and run around. Even if I’m just playing tag with my kids and their cousins. Have a happy and healthy holiday!
Ashley
Playing tag is a lot of fun, it’s one of my favorites ๐ have a happy thanksgiving too!
