This weeks Mamavation Question is: What is your plan to avoid overindulging during holiday feasts?
Great question! I’ve already been thinking about how much food is coming my way Thursday. First, I have to cook for my side of the family and have it ready by the time Santa hits Macy’s Herald Square. Then, for dinner we have to go sit through another feast with my husband’s family. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. And no, I’m not totally crazy for cooking, it’s the only way to insure that at least one meal I’m at Thanksgiving is a healthy one!
So how to avoid over indulging during holiday feasts? Well, luckily I can only really eat one large meal a day. And since I know that my turkey meal will be healthier then my in-laws I plan on eating my big meal at home. I’ve also decided ahead of time not to have desserts. There will be enough eating of everything else that it really will be unnecessary to pig out further. But if you really want desserts then be carb conscious. Have less stuffing and rolls, eat more veggies then have a small piece of dessert. It’s all about balance!
Most importantly, instead of going into a food coma get up and get active! My gym is open Thursday until 2pm and I plan on going there right after the kids go down for a nap. If somehow that doesn’t happen, my Wii fit is always ready. The point is do something! Besides if you are hitting all the stores for black friday you might want to get in some running, pilates, or yoga to prepare yourself (like the Target Christmas lady).
So who’s with me? Let’s commit to be active and not gain holiday weight!!!
