A post about running? If you have spent anytime reading this blog you would know that running is the last thing I would ever do. I wouldn't even run for my life if that gives you any insight. Oh and don't get me started on the phrase fun run, as if those two words together make any sense. Honestly, I never dreamed I would willingly participate in any type of run. NEVER, no way, no how, nope, uh uh, NO.
Never Say Never My Friends
When I first read about the Color Me Rad 5K I was hooked. It was like having an out of body experience when I heard myself say, I want to do this! Wait what? The girl who hates running, wants to sign up for a 5K. This sounds like a sitcom ::insert funny punchline here:: Hear me out. This is not just some lame, boring, jog in a circle a few times kind of run. Color Me Rad stands out like a shining beacon of awesomeness in a world of boring. Don't believe me? Read their About section and tell me you didn't get excited? I dare you!
How is this run different? First put on your white like a bride and show up to the race ready to seize the day. Then start your run while the color squad is out there cheering you on and throwing color bombs at you. By the time you cross the finish line you look like you have been somewhere over the rainbow. Yes there you are, multi-colored, standing with your head high, feeling that sense of accomplishment and surge of adrenaline.
Color Me Rad puts it best:
Start out as clean as a newborn babe, and throughout the run, you'll coat your chaffing thighs with Color Bombs of blue, green, pink, purple, and yellow until your face, shirt, and body come out silkscreened like a tie-dyed hippy on the other side. Each section of the run adds a new explosion of color to your clean, painter’s palate until you cross the finish line into a final blitzkrieg of color.
Color Me Rad is not only a fun way to burn calories and try out those crazy hair colors you see on Pinterest. I think the coolest part about Color Me Rad is that part of your money goes to a local charity. To find out which charity will be receiving donations, visit the location's details on their website. Getting in shape, being healthy, having fun, all while helping others, that just sounds perfect to me.
Ready to get colored? They have locations all over the country. Check out the Race Map to find a city near you! Pick your location, register, and receive some amazing swag. I couldn't run without my most awesome, motivating best friend! Our team name is affectionately called Team Buxs (we are starbucks queens afterall). Grab your friends, your aunt, cousin, or whoever and let's do this!
Do you have more questions? FAQs has you covered, seriously I don't think there is a question they haven't answered.
Like Color Me Rad on Facebook and follow them on Twitter for exclusive updates and other awesomness.
Are you a believer now? Planning to run? Excited? I will be writing a post-race blog about our experience. I can say without any hint of irony I am thrilled to be running this 5k!

I cannot wait to do one of these. If I’m going to get sweaty and gross, at least I can be colorful too! 🙂

The color can help hide the nasty sweat 😉
