X-Men 97 Season 2 Episode 5 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
Garrison Kane is on the plane with Wolverine, Morph, Maverick, Sabertooth, and Lady Deathstrike. They are headed to kill Dr. Cornelius… or so that’s what they thought.
In the comics, Garrison Kane eventually became Weapon X.
Dr. Cornelius’ mission was to perfect the process of infusing Adamantium onto a human subject. He was eventually successful with Wolverine.
They crashed near the Weapon X Facility after being attacked by mutant birds oozing green blood. Wolverine says the smell is off.
Sabertooth makes fun of Wolverine’s bone claws.
Weak life signs are coming from the lab. Deathstrike calls Morph Tomo. Tomo is a shape-shifting fox from Japanese mythology who is a loyal sidekick to a Samurai.
They find bodies everywhere, Morph mentions Graydon Creed to Sabertooth. Creed is his son.
Cornelius calls Professor Oyama’s work junk. His voice is distorted though and he evolves into a mutant bug creature- he has injected himself with alien DNA.
Morph turns into The Thing trying to help them out. Wolverine makes a comment about this being his second alien invasion.
The bugs are actually The Brood, insectoid beings who travel through space with one purpose- to infest the strongest hosts. Morph figures this out and worries about Wolverine.
Omega Red is in a tank. Omega Red is a super soldier from the Soviet Union, who was given cybernetic enhancements including Carbonadium tentacles in each arm. Carbonadium was their version of adamantium. He has enhanced healing, can drain life forces, and is almost indestructible.
Maverick finds the group panicking, Wolverine has been infected.
Omega Red awakes and goes after Wolverine. Morph turns into Deadpool. The others want to leave Wolverine behind but Morph refuses and turns into the Silver Samurai.
Morph has a plan to purge the Brood DNA out of his body by putting him through the adamantium process but they need to lure him to the tank. Naturally, Morph turns into Cyclops to taunt Logan and eventually Jean Grey.
Wolverine is cured, has regained his adamantium claws/skeleton, and fights Omega Red until they must flee. The facility explodes, killing the aliens, destroying the research and putting Omega Red down.. for now.
X-Men 97 season 2 episodes 1-5 are now streaming on Disney+.
