Review: How To Get Anything You Want Just Like That

February 6, 2012 By Ashley 1 Comment

Recently, I received a copy of Janet Poole's new book “How to get anything you want just like that.” Before reading the book I searched for more information about her. I like to know my authors! Here is what Amazon had to say about her. (Note: this was written by the author or a representative. I shortened it for this post. See the whole bio here)

While traveling and working in I.T. in different countries, Janet avidly studied people and their behavior. This propelled her to explore what lies beneath everyone's individuality, and why some people are happy with very little and others miserable in paradise(…)Janet's research over 20 years led her to the conclusion that the inner workings of life are staggeringly simple and that it comes down to one single key: we create what we think. Janet has followed alternate paths in her quest to understand life (…)

I have seen a lot of self-help books out there. But generally, they usually say the same thing with different wording. This book is something else entirely. Just Like That is well written and paints a vivid picture for the reader, transporting them to a place of self awareness. The author does a good job reaching out to a wide audience. It begins with Poole introducing why she wrote the book, followed by a breakdown of exactly how it is laid out. At the end of each chapter, there is a summary of the key points as well as exercises to help the reader apply the information to his/her life. Poole even offers other suggested reading, if you want to dig deeper into the principles she addresses.

Just Like That, is an easy to follow, work at your own pace guide to living a better life. I personally enjoyed all the inspirational quotes throughout the text. The changes are easy enough to make if you are willing to actively put in the effort.  I really like that Poole suggests instead of changing yourself to fit with the status quo of the world, love yourself, and the rest will all start to fall into place! This book is a great stepping stone for people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. This book is great for singles, married couples, men, women, etc. There is something for everyone to take to heart from this book.

“The biggest blessing you can give someone is to accept them for who they are. Start by accepting yourself, and go with what resonates for you.” -Janet Poole

“This is a new day. A new beginning.” - Ahsoka “This is a new day. A new beginning.” - Ahsoka Tano 2020 has been a year. And I won’t lie and say it’s been easy but we decided early on to try and find the positive. The light amidst the darkness. While I know that Jan 1st isn’t going to magically fix things, I do look forward to 2021 in hopes that everyone comes together, does what needs to be done, so that by the end of it we will have some semblance of balance in the force. I don’t do New Years resolutions but I do plan on continuing to look for the light, be the good, and help others to as well.
