*Formerly Mamavation Monday, not because I don't love Mamavation I do but since they don't really call it that anymore I wanted to come up with my own title for a weekly fitness post ๐
I know I have been MIA for like 2 weeks now when it comes to updating you on my fitness goals, wins, losses, and what not. Getting ready for the first week of school, work deadlines, and my trip to New York consumed my life. And when life gets busy usually we drop things we don't deem necessary…like working out. I barely have time to pee let alone take 30 mins to a hour out of my day not including driving time to workout. Eh I'll make up for it later.
That's a pit we can all fall into and it's a dangerous one.
It takes about 2 weeks to get into a groove of working out, two weeks is what it takes to make it easier to go and stay going. But it only takes missing one or two workout days to sabotage the mental ground you gained. At least it's true for me. It is a battle of the mind to push myself to go to the gym when it seems like I have no time for anything. My rule of thumb is, unless I am bed ridden or injured, the more I feel like I don't want to workout the more I need to make sure I go.
So these past 2 weeks working out was the last thing on my mind. Not to mention I was sick with laryngitis and coughing like nobodies business. Laryngitis doesn't keep you laying in bed and although my throat was raw I wasn't hurt. No excuses. I dragged myself to the gym, and got in Zumba, running, and weights (on different days could you imagine? I would hurt myself!).
New York was amazing, I've never been.ย My hotel did have a gym but I did not bring my workout gear. Being in the city though, I walked everywhere so I still got those steps in! Also, dodging crazy taxi drivers should totally count as intense cardio! I kept it as healthy as possible, I passed on the New York pizza, hot dogs, and pretzels…tough love. I did indulge in a cheesecake, so worth it! That's my motto, if you are going to break your healthy eating then make it worth it. Stale chips or cookies in a bag are not worth your time but authentic New York cheesecake so is!
How are you doing in your health goals? Do you have a Mighty Mom Moment to share? I would love to hear it! Tweet me with #mightymom so we can support each other!

Like the Mighty Mom Monday. I miss Mamavation Mondays and need to do a weekly weigh-in post as well. Truly keeps me accountable. Great job getting back into the routine. It is so hard when schedules change.
Ashley
I miss it too so I wanted to make something to keep me accountable lol!

Wow, Way to Go with passing on all the ‘bad’ food in NYC! That would of definitely been a tough one – but I agree ,if you are going to splurge do it right! That’s how I feel about Skittles & Starburst – I don’t feel bad throwing out the not so tasty ones! =)
Ashley
