Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs and Cameos You May Have Missed

February 14, 2025 By Ashley Leave a Comment

Marvel Studios' Captain America Brave New World is now in theaters and proves to be a thrilling, official introduction to Sam Wilson as Captain America. As with any Marvel outing there are loads of Marvel easter eggs, callbacks, and even a cameo or two, including one that definitely surprised audiences. From comic deep cuts to Cap's shield in the trunk, here are all the Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs you may have missed.

Spoilers ahead if you have not seen Captain America Brave New World.

Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs

Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs and Cameos

The first Marvel movie without the usual Marvel Studios logo animation.

Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross has just become the President of the United States. He is now played by Harrison Ford as the original actor, William Hurt, passed away.

In his acceptance speech, Ross mentions The Blip as well as the Celestial in the Indian Ocean.

The crowd is holding posters with Ross on them but they resemble the late William Hurt.

Sam is having a drink at Abe's Bar. This could be a deep cut nod to Abe's Head Bar in Hulk #2 Volume 7.

The new is discussing Ross' past including events from The Incredible Hulk where Abomination and Bruce Banner (Hulk) destroyed Harlem.

Sam and Joaquin visit Oaxaca Mexico in order to retrieve a stolen canister of a special substance. Sam is wearing his white and blue Captain America suit from Falcon and the Winter Soldier with some upgrades thanks to the Wakandans.

They get a hallway scene, a MCU staple for Daredevil.

Joaquin is the new Falcon.

Sam's callsign is Eagle One– a fun nod to his evolving from Falcon to Captain America.

The leader of the Serpent Society is Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito). The Serpent Society is a group of criminals and mercenaries.

Instead of facing Sam alone, he has one of his goons fight him. The fight is a callback to Captain America: The Winter Soldier when Steve faces Batroc.

Ross visits his wife's grave: Karen Lee Ross who died of cancer when Betty was 12.

Joaquin wants to meet Ant-Man. Sam and Scott Lang met when Ant-Man broke into the Avengers Compound in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Before Joaquin can become Falcon, Sam tells him he needs to train. Because he doesn't have super soldier serum, Sam trains with Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), the forgotten Captain America.

Bradley breaks a punching bag, something Steve did in Avengers.

Isaiah doesn't think Captain America should work for the government. Sam understands his concerns and they discuss when Sam was held as a prisoner in The Raft for helping Steve in Germany.

Sam, Isaiah, and Joaquin are invited to the White House where Ross is hosting world leaders to discuss what to do with the resources they found on the Celestial Island.

Ross wants Sam to Rebuild The Avengers. Sam reminds him it was Ross' Sokovia Accords that tore them apart in the first place.

During the conversation there is a portrait in the background of a former president that looks like Leslie Nielsen. In Scary Movie 3, Nielsen plays a US president who looks at a portrait of Harrison Ford.

Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs Celestial island adamantium

What was found on the Celestial was Adamantium- the same rare metal that coats Wolverine's skeleton. Ross makes a point to say this material is better than vibranium and not controlled by a single nation- Wakanda.

Isaiah and others are triggered (Like Bucky's trigger words to awaken the Winter Soldier) at the White House and attack Ross.

Inside Sam's office there are photos of he and Bucky, his wingman Riley, as well as one of him with Joaquin.

Captain America's shield is in the trunk.

Sam and Joaquin decide to go investigate who hired Sidewinder (the Leader). He is being held at a secure location in West Virginia- Camp Echo One. In the comics Camp Echo-1 was located in New Mexico and was changed from a training facility to a place that could contain The Hulk and was later used as an internment camp for the Inhumans.

Dr. Samuel Sterns aka The Leader has been kept prisoner by Ross since the events of The Incredible Hulk. Promising him his freedom, Ross has kept Sterns working, upping his gamma exposure in order to increase his brain power. The result is a disfigured man who is beyond genius. Sterns is responsible for Ross' greatest weapons and strategies that got him the presidency.

Grayburn College is where Sterns taught before he was arrested by Ross.

Inside Sterns' lab, Sam finds files on a lot of people, including Ross.

Samuel Sterns uses the song “Mr. Blue” by The Fleetwoods to trigger the mind control. This is a nod to his alias he used when communicating with Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.

Sam goes to find out more about Sterns from Sidewinder who is being kept at a base in Norfolk Va. Sidewinder speaks but tells him he wants to be put at Allenwood Federal Prison. Sidewinder promises to break out and find Sam so he can kill Captain America.

Allenwood is a prison from the Daredevil comics where Kingpin had someone murdered.

Air Force One– Ross flies to the Celestial Island on board the plane. Harrison Ford starred in a movie called Air Force One where he played the president who had to recapture his plane from terrorists.

Ross tells Sam that Sterns created the pills he has been taking in order to keep himself from dying. Sterns was also set up to take the fall for what happened in Harlem with The Hulk and Abomination.

His heart problems were referenced in Civil War and Black Widow.

Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) shows up at the hospital to talk to Sam. They talk about Steve, super soldier serum, and why Sam is the perfect person to be the new Captain America- you give people something to aspire to.

Bucky has to leave for a campaign fundraiser, he is going to be a congressman (which is likely his job in the upcoming Thunderbolts*)

Captain America Brave New World Easter Eggs Red Hulk

Ross hulks out and turns into the Red Hulk, thanks to the gamma filled pills The Leader has been giving him for years. Red Hulk is similar in size and strength to regular Hulk but is also able to remain conscious of himself, enabling him to transform between the two more easily than Banner.

The Washington Monument gets hit again. It was also damaged in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

His love for Betty brings him back to himself, and he willingly turns himself in and is imprisoned at The Raft. Betty (Liv Tyler) comes to visit him.

Captain America Brave New World Post Credit Scene

Some time has passed, since Sam is no longer wearing a sling. He goes to The Raft to speak with The Leader, confident that they stopped his plans. Sterns warns him about other worlds and the threat the others pose.

Those others are threats from the Multiverse. Galactus is set to be introduced in Fantastic Four First Steps as well as Dr. Doom. If you think Galactic is going to die easily (or is 100% out of the picture after F4), you're funny. Not to mention we've gotten glimpses of “others” in Multiverse of Madness, Loki, and Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania to name a few.
